About

Once a week on a Thursday a new blog will be posted, and also on anniversaries or special events so please come back and have a look.

The Hospital Archives  is a ‘Place of Deposit for Public Records’ as defined by The National Archives under the Public Records Acts of 1954 & 1967, and as such, unless access is restricted, are open to public access and viewing.

The Trust has its own archivist who holds material and artefacts worthy of permanent preservation that relates to the history and work of the Hospital and its other related organisations.

The paper Archives are stored in a strongroom on Level 1 that has been fitted with mobile shelving to maximise the space available and also has a thermostatically controlled unit installed to control and maintain the temperature and humidity of the room. The archive contains 700 cubic metres of material – and this will continue to grow.
