I am pleased to announce that the Hospital Archivist has been awarded a grant from the Sharing Heritage Lottery fund to create a collection of Oral History recordings to celebrate 50 years of liver transplant operations at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
This year sees the 50th Anniversary of the first European successful liver transplant, which was carried out at Addenbrooke’s Hospital by Professor Roy Calne.
The project will run for 12 months. So first of all I am looking for volunteers to help me carry out the interviews. I am planning to interview some of the original team, members of other staff groups that benefited from their work and participants and their families who have had the surgery.
If you are interested in helping with the project please contact the archivist: archive@addenbrookes.nhs.uk
As well as the interviews I will be putting a new display of related instruments and artefacts in the Museum.
